A Walk in the Dark:
Why I Run This Blog,
What I Have Lived,
and What I Saw at Age 3

I am Christopher Khaemba Munyasa. I have had more than 27 conscious Out of Body Experiences. I buried my son Trevor. I lost my friends, my family, my marriage — all of it. And before any of that: at age three or four, in Maringo Estate, Nairobi, my father picked me up and ran. What we saw that night, I am disclosing publicly for the first time.

Christopher Khaemba Munyasa — OBE experiencer, author of A Walk in the Dark, and founder of True Reality Kenya. This post contains his first public disclosure of a childhood encounter in Nairobi’s Maringo Estate that he carried silently for four decades.

Why I Am Writing This

Some of you who find this blog may wonder: who is this person? Why is a Kenyan man writing about UFOs, ancient stone cities, prophetic traditions, and Out of Body Experiences? What connects his life to all of this?

I want to answer that directly. In my own words. With nothing hidden and nothing exaggerated.

My name is Christopher Khaemba Munyasa. Most people who know me personally call me Chris. I am Kenyan. I am a father. I am a brother. And I am a man who, during the most painful season of my life, walked into a territory that most people never consciously explore — and came back with a view of reality that changed everything I thought I knew.

I have had more than 27 fully conscious, deliberate Out of Body Experiences.

And before any of those: when I was three or four years old, in Maringo Estate, Nairobi, my father picked me up in a sudden jolt and ran. I had just had my first encounter with a non-human being. I am disclosing this publicly for the first time in this post.

First Public Disclosure — Read With Care

Maringo Estate, House 146A: What My Father and I Saw When I Was Three

Note to the Reader

What follows is a first-person account of a childhood encounter I have never disclosed publicly before. My family does not know this story. I am sharing it now because I have nothing left to lose and everything to gain by being honest. I am no longer afraid. I no longer have the social structure I used to have to protect. And the truth I have been carrying since age three or four deserves to be said out loud. — CK

I was three, maybe four years old. We lived in Maringo Estate, House Number 146A — a well-organised housing estate in Nairobi, directly opposite the Maringo Chief’s offices and close to the Makadara Law Courts. Life was simple then. Structured. My father was a tall man — 5′11″ to 6′ — and I thought, as children do, that he was the biggest thing in the world.

It was night, about 2-3am. My father had taken me outside to pee — as was the custom for young children before the time of en-suite bathrooms in ordinary Nairobi housing. I was doing what I was taken outside to do. I was focused on my task. I was three years old.

And then I became aware of something in front of us.

The Account — In Christopher’s Own Words

There was a being standing there. Luminous. A soft white glow — the only thing I can compare it to, even now, is a fluorescent tube bulb. But it was not a single point of light. The glow was all around the body, from top to bottom, evenly distributed. Every part of the being had this same soft white luminosity. It was not blinding. It was gentle. Almost warm-looking, even from where we stood.

The being was tall. Much taller than my father, and my father was not a short man. I would estimate now, with the reference I have from research over the years, approximately 7 to 8 feet. It was standing still. Looking at us.

In my young mind, in the years after, the only frame of reference I had for something of that appearance — large, standing upright, white all over — was a white bear. I had no internet. I had no UAP documentaries. The only television in Kenya at that time was a single channel, KBC, which I would watch occasionally as a child. I saw something on it once about white bears — polar bears — and something in me grabbed at that as the nearest available comparison. So for years, privately, silently, I thought of what we saw as “the white bear.” I did not tell anyone. I just carried it. I did not even know at the time that polar bears only live in the Arctic — as far from Nairobi as you can get.

But the thing that made it impossible for me to file it away as a dream or imagination — the thing that stayed with me more than the appearance — was the communication.

The being looked at us. Or rather, the being looked at me. And it smiled. And then I heard it — not through my ears, not as a sound in the air, but from inside. A warmth and a voice that arrived fully formed in my awareness. Something like:

“I will not harm you. Do not fear.”

And warmth flooded through me from the inside. Not from outside, not from the air. From inside my chest. I was calm. I was curious. I did not understand why my father was suddenly moving.

He scooped me up in a sudden, jolting movement — fast, no warning — and before I could fully register what was happening I was in his arms and he was running. I got one more glimpse over his shoulder as we moved. The being had not moved. It was still standing in the same place. Still looking after us. Still luminous. Still calm.

In my young mind, the only confusion I had was: why is dad running? This being said it wouldn’t hurt us. This being felt warm and kind. My father, being an adult, clearly saw and understood something more. I believe he saw more than I did. He is gone now — he has passed on — so I cannot ask him. But I believe he knew exactly what he had seen. And I believe that is why he ran.

I carried this in silence for nearly forty years. Not because I was ashamed. Not because I thought I was lying to myself. But because I had no framework for it. I had no words for it. I had no community that would receive it without ridicule or alarm. I was a Kenyan child, growing up in an era before the internet, before UAP disclosure, before any of the language we now use to discuss these things existed in the world I lived in.

It took my first accidental Out of Body Experience — which came years later, after the death of my son Trevor — to crack the world open enough for me to look back at Maringo Estate and understand: that was not a white bear. That was a contact event. And it happened in Kenya. In Nairobi. In a housing estate. To a child and his father.

My father and I had other encounters that I will be disclosing in my next book, which is currently being written. This Maringo encounter is the first. And this post is the first time I have said any of this out loud.

What the Research Shows

The Maringo Encounter in Global Context

I am not the only person who has described what I saw. The specific characteristics of this encounter — luminous body, 7–8 foot height, soft white all-over glow, telepathic communication of non-threatening reassurance, warmth transmitted internally — appear in the documented account literature from multiple countries and multiple decades. Here is where you can go to research them yourself:

Documented Characteristics Matching the Maringo Account

Luminous body, soft white glow Documented in Betty Andreasson Luca’s account (Massachusetts, 1967), Travis Walton (Arizona, 1975), the Ariel School Zimbabwe encounter (1994), and multiple cases in the MUFON database. The “self-luminous” entity characteristic is one of the most globally consistent descriptions across contact accounts. (Wikipedia: Travis Walton)
7–8 foot height Tall luminous beings (6–9 feet) appear across multiple African contact accounts including the Ariel School Zimbabwe encounter (1994) and multiple Southern African cases documented by Credo Mutwa. The height differential — significantly taller than an adult human male — is a consistent marker in this specific category of encounter. (Wikipedia: Ariel School)
Telepathic communication — no spoken voice Mind-to-mind communication without spoken language is the single most consistently reported characteristic of close encounter testimony globally. MUFON’s database of 70,000+ cases cites this in the majority of contact-level events. The message of non-threat and reassurance is also a recurring motif. (MUFON)
Internal warmth transmitted The sensation of warmth transmitted from inside, accompanying telepathic communication, is documented across encounter accounts and in near-death experience literature, suggesting it may be a property of how this category of intelligence communicates across the consciousness interface. (IANDS: International Association for Near-Death Studies)
Urban residential setting Encounters in residential urban settings, particularly at night in the 1970s–1980s, appear consistently in the NUFORC and MUFON databases. The absence of rural isolation as a precondition is significant — proximity to countryside is not a requirement. (NUFORC)
Child witness — adult companion flees The documented pattern of adult companions reacting with fear while child witnesses remain calm — and often receiving communication or warmth while adults do not — appears in multiple accounts and is noted in the literature as possibly reflecting the child’s lower fear frequency. Fear is a barrier to communication. (Wikipedia: Ariel School)

The Ariel School Zimbabwe Encounter — Africa’s Most Documented Case

In September 1994, 62 children at the Ariel School in Ruwa, Zimbabwe, witnessed a craft land and beings emerge during their school break. Every child independently described the same appearance: large dark eyes, pale or luminous skin, non-threatening presence, and telepathic communication — most describing a message about environmental destruction. Dr John Mack of Harvard University investigated personally. The documentary Ariel Phenomenon (2022) follows the adult witnesses returning to the story thirty years later. This is Africa’s most documented mass contact account. (Wikipedia: Ariel School)(Ariel Phenomenon documentary)

The Cost of Waking Up

What This Awakening Took From Me — And What It Gave

I want to be honest about something that most people who write about spiritual awakening tend to leave out. The way it is usually told, the story goes: I had this experience, I woke up, my life became beautiful. The light came in and everything was better.

That is not what happened to me. And I suspect it is not what happens for most people who genuinely go through this.

When my first accidental OBE cracked me open — when I began to talk about what I was experiencing, before I understood how to hold it privately — I lost almost everything in my immediate circle. I talked too much, too early, too openly. I did not yet understand how challenging these revelations can be for the people closest to you. I learned the hard way.

Friends: I no longer have any close friends. Not because I stopped caring for people. Because of what they came to know about me from these experiences — and what that knowledge cost in the relationships we had built.

Family: I am largely isolated from my family and siblings. This was not my intention and it was not a sudden break. It happened gradually, as the distance between what I was seeing and what they were willing to receive grew too wide to bridge.

My former relationship: My ex left, in significant part because of these experiences and more. That is not a simple thing to carry.

The life I knew: The social architecture I had built over forty years — the familiar world of connections, routines, and relationships — largely dissolved. Funny thing, my life has not become easy. The life I knew simply left.

I watch accounts from people in different parts of the world who have gone through similar awakenings, and I realise: this is normal. The ridicule. The separation from those closest to you. The complete rearrangement of your social world. It is almost a prerequisite of genuine awakening — the shedding of what cannot hold the new weight.

“To date I have no friends because of what they got to know about me. This awakening took everything I knew and had away from me. Today I am completely isolated in my family and siblings. I have come to accept this. I have come to understand this has been the path for many people. And I am no longer afraid — since I have lost everything I knew as close to me, I now have nothing left to be afraid of losing.”

Christopher Khaemba Munyasa — in his own words, 2026

What remains: a supportive and loving partner. This blog. The truth. The work. A book already published and a second being written. And the absolute certainty that what I am doing — documenting Kenya’s suppressed heritage, recovering these hidden stories, building the archive that was never built — is exactly what I was meant to be doing with this version of my life.

I am not sharing all of this to ask for sympathy. I am sharing it because if someone else is going through something similar — if you have had an experience you cannot explain and the people around you cannot receive it — I want you to know: you are not alone. You are not crazy. And what happened to your social world is not a sign that you went wrong. It may be the first sign that you went right.

The OBE — What It Is

You Are the Driver, Not the Car

The Out of Body Experience is not a supernatural gift given to special people. It is a natural capacity that every human being has — accessed by most people only involuntarily during sleep, and by some deliberately through sustained inner silence and awareness. Let me explain it the way I understand it from the inside.

Think about being inside a car. When you are sitting inside a vehicle, your view is limited to the windows the manufacturer provided. You cannot see the tyres. You cannot see the engine. You cannot assess the exterior from the inside.

Now replace the car with your body. You are currently inside your body. Your body is your vehicle — your uniform for this earth experience. And just like the driver inside a car, you can only see through the two windows placed in the upper section of the body, right under the forehead. We call them eyes. This is also why — think about this — you cannot see your own body without a mirror or a photograph. You are inside it. You are the driver. Not the car.

When your body sleeps at night, you step out. The body rests, repairs, restores. And you — the real you, the driver — continue your journey outside the vehicle. A conscious OBE is simply when this natural departure happens with full awareness. When you know you are leaving. When you return with complete memory.

You Already Know This Happens — You Were Just Not Told

When a surgeon puts a patient under anaesthesia — they temporarily separate the person from full inhabitation of the body so the work can be done. The body stays on the table. The person goes somewhere else.

When someone is in a coma — they are not gone. They are present. They are watching. They are absorbing every word spoken in that room. This is why doctors advise: never speak negatively around a coma patient.

Dreams are not random — they are real activities, real journeys, conducted while out of the body. Some touch future timelines. Some are prophetic. We have all had that dream that later came true. We are all, in this sense, natural prophets.

And to the CIA — yes, the actual Central Intelligence Agency — this ability is officially known as Remote Viewing. The same government that runs the most powerful military on earth spent over two decades and serious money studying, training, and operationalising it under Project STARGATE (1972–1995). The files are declassified. They are publicly downloadable. (CIA STARGATE Archive — read it yourself)

Running from 1972 to 1995, it trained intelligence operatives to use consciousness-based perception for intelligence gathering. Freely accessible to any Kenyan with internet access today. The ability many were taught to fear as “witchcraft” was classified by the world’s most powerful government as intelligence. (Access the files)

Why This Blog Exists

From a Three-Year-Old in Maringo to the Archive Kenya Never Had

When you understand that consciousness extends beyond the physical body — that non-human intelligences are real and have been encountered by documented witnesses across every culture and every era — suddenly the oral traditions of the Kikuyu (Ngai descending from Kirinyaga in brightness), the Luo (Anyango emerging from Lake Victoria), the Nandi (Koitalel receiving knowledge from Asis the sun deity), and the Borana (governing their society by stellar cycles) are not primitive myths. They are records. Testimony. Evidence of contact traditions that predate colonialism by thousands of years.

And what I experienced at age three in Maringo Estate — the luminous being, the telepathic message, the warmth from inside — is not separate from Kenya’s heritage investigations. It is part of the same continuous thread. Kenya has always been a place where the veil between what we can see and what is real has been thinner than most people are told.

True Reality Kenya exists to document that thread. Every post on this blog is a contribution to an archive that was never built. From the most ancient oral tradition to the most recent cattle mutilation in Kericho. From the stone city in Migori that most Kenyans have never heard of to the luminous being that visited a housing estate in Nairobi in the 1970s or 1980s.

All of it is connected. All of it is Kenya’s story. And all of it has been waiting — for a long time — to be told.

“I am no longer afraid. Since I have lost everything I knew as close to me, I now have nothing left to protect by staying silent. The truth does not need defenders. It only needs a mind willing to remain open long enough to let it land.”
